Coming here feels like having dinner at a families home. Because that's what it is. Walking in the door, the experience, the food, it all feels like a warm hug. Dooky Chase Restaurant is a multi generational love letter to their community told through food and hospitality. The greeting at the door and getting seated is warm and helpful. The staff are knowledgeable about the food and menu and able to offer suggestions if you need advice. The food was like having a good family meal, just what you needed. We can speak directly to the BBQ shrimp, gumbo, shrimp clemenceau, fried chicken, all fantastic. So many good things we had to say, next time, next time. Can't wait to visit again.
Being Creole myself I was absolutely excited to visit this historic New Orleans mainstay. Please note that reservations are highly recommended. The day I visited the restaurant was Reservation Only!! Luckily for us we had the required reservation and were promptly seated after arriving. Our server Caitlin was absolutely great. She was kind and attentive. She provided clear and detailed recommendations based on our questions and requests. She had the perfect balance between service and allowing us time to enjoy ourselves. She definitely contributed to the overall experience. The cocktails were delicious and very well mixed. Shoutout to the bartender for sure!! Food was pretty good with highs and some lows. A few highs included the Crab Cake app, BBQ Shrimp(Creole Style) savory not sweet and the Macaroni and Cheese. The entrées we had were delicious but as I mentioned Im Creole and cook this type of food on the regular and expected an EXCEPTIONAL food experience. Nothing was at all bad but I have to be honest that I think the nostalgia may sway many opinions. Lastly let's rethink the potato salad recipe as the Dijon was very heavy on Friday July 3rd 2026. This is not a slight, only an observation. I definitely recommend this historical restaurant. The atmosphere and energy feels like home and the staff pull it together very well!!
I went to this restaurant for the first time in all the years it's have lived in New Orleans! I missed out on a treat! My friend had gotten married and held their wedding reception lunch here! I was so glad to have an opportunity to experience this place because I heard good things about it, but never took the time to experience it for myself! Well, never again! I will certainly return for the delicious food, patient and courteous wait staff, and the beautiful decor that this restaurant has to offer! If you are looking for all the good things New Orleans has to offer, you must add this restaurant to your to-do list!! 10 toes down!! One more note, although my pictures show courses that featured meat, they did accommodate someone who was vegetarian. Also, the drinks from the bar.....baby, they do not hold back on the juice!!
This place is so classy and beautiful yet colorful and fun all at the same time. Very friendly staff food is fantastic. Highly recommend the beet salad with fried oysters. We also split a seafood platter, which was delicious at every bite. I got one side à la carte fried chicken, and it was delicious.
