Very solid BBQ joint. I typically do a good and bad list but in this case, everything was good. No issues with service. Atmosphere was good. Brisket, mac and cheese, and tator tots were very good. If I was reaching for a dowside it was a little on loud side and was a little expensive, but neither were deal breakers for me. Bottom line: If you like BBQ, you should check out Blue Oak BBQ.
Good time and good food. Had the naked wings with baked beans and brussel sprouts. Salad of the month (was okay, for mami) Beef brisket BBQ platter with ginger salad slaw and brussel sprouts. Snack was pork belly crackling (okay).
Well decided to go here for lunch today after running the Crescent City Classic. Was ok. Can Honestly say this place isn't the same. Kinda has gone down. Use to come here alot but do to the place in my opinion starting to go down some took a break from it. All I can say is CONSISTENCY CONSISTENCY CONSISTENCY ... As you can see in the pictures from a previous day, today it was not consistent. The potato salad and Mac n Cheese were completely different. Not even close. Sad to say but today was a disappointment. My advice to Blue Oak BBQ ... get back to the way things were done before. Feels like you're short changing us now. Maybe next time.
2 visit review (and score). 1st time was a 5, lunch takeout a few days ago. 2nd time was dinner takeout tonight, a 3. I ordered the exact same thing both times, a pulled pork sandwich with slaw on the side and brussel sprouts. Pics of both are attached. The pulled pork was delicious again, but the sprouts were packaged differently and were extremely soggy instead of crispy like last time. The flavor is good. Also, my slaw (which was really yummy last time) was left out completely. (Receipt accurately shows that it was supposed to be on the side.) Tonight my husband got the BBQ burger, and we were both pretty disappointed in it. We thought it would be more of a course ground brisket patty and juicy, but it was way more like a pre-fab and dry. His potato salad was ok. I’d definitely still go back to try the ribs, which they were out of today, based on the pulled pork being as good as it is.
