I have come here multiple times for happy hour/date night. It is always delicious and fun. The menu has classica with twist, the drinks are superb, and the raw bar is great too. Fresh oysters are really fantastic here. I woul say this is good for smaller groups, like 4 or fewer, maybe up to 6 if you push it. It is casual but upscale, you can either dress up or wear shorts and flip flops, it all fits the vibes.
Amazing meal, wonderful service. The prefix menu is such a good value-$58 for 3 full courses. The oyster shucker is happy to talk about varieties and make recommendations. Desserts were so tasty
We visited Pigeon and Whale with a party of eight while in New Orleans for a conference, and we were also celebrating a birthday. I have a gluten allergy, and I appreciated that they provided a menu clearly marked with gluten-friendly options. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food, with the octopus being a favorite. I ordered the mussels, which were good, although they arrived only lukewarm rather than hot. The only disappointment came at the end of the evening. As soon as we were seated, we explained that we would need separate checks because we were traveling for work and our employer requires individual receipts for reimbursement. We were assured this would not be a problem. When the bill arrived, however, it was a single check. We politely reminded our server that we had requested separate checks at the beginning of the meal. The server seemed frustrated and acted like it couldn’t be done. When we pointed out the staff member we had originally told, she stated that we had never made the request, which surprised our entire table since all eight of us remembered the conversation. To their credit, they ultimately split the checks, but it created an awkward ending to what had otherwise been a very enjoyable dinner. With a smoother finish, this easily would have been a five-star experience.
The food was amazing our first time here. Everything about this place, there is a subtle elegance that enriches the whole experience. We had several appetizers, ceviche, olives, deviled eggs, raw oysters and the main course was cooked to perfection. The lemon cheese cake was the surprise of the evening I won’t ruin it for you. It’s a must !
Pigeon and Whale is consistently delicious, and the service is superb! We had the bread service, mussels, and carrot cake tonight, and it was all delicious. Also, highly recommend the lemon dessert, and the negronis! I have a nut allergy, and the wait staff went above and beyond. Love this spot :) They also have a wonderful happy hour!
