Meet your guide at 2504 Prytania Street to begin a narrated tour starting inside the Women's Opera Guild Home, a mansion built in 1859 and designed by architect William Freret Jr. Please note the interior is not wheelchair accessible due to its historic nature; however, the rest of the tour is fully accessible.
After touring the mansion, continue with a leisurely stroll through the Garden District to see residences once owned by authors, poets, actors, and athletes including Anne Rice, John Goodman, and Archie Manning. View iconic landmarks such as the Benjamin Button House and explore the vibrant local flora including magnolias, live oaks, and crepe myrtles.
The tour also includes a stop at Lafayette #1 Cemetery, New Orleans’ oldest municipal cemetery, where you can learn about unique burial rituals and the site’s role in notable films and television shows. Although the cemetery is closed to the public, you will access the gates for a detailed explanation.
