New Orleans isn’t just about fancy cocktails and jazz joints; its pubs have a laid-back charm all their own. If you’re craving a spot where the beer flows cold and the conversation feels easy, you’ll find plenty here scattered across neighborhoods like the Marigny, Bywater, and Uptown. Sometimes it’s not about the craft brews but the old-school dive with a jukebox playing Zydeco or good old rock.

One of my favorite spots is Finn McCool’s on Magazine Street. It’s got a solid beer selection but also some of the best pub grub you can find , their crawfish pie is surprisingly good. And if you’re wandering around Frenchmen Street after dark, the Bulldog keeps things casual with pitchers and a backyard patio to chill in. Pro tip: try to hit a pub during a Saints game; the crowd really amps up the vibe, and you’ll end up making new friends real quick.

Keep in mind, not every ‘pub’ here looks like the classic image you might expect. Some lean more toward oyster bars or neighborhood bars with killer po’boys on the side. Also, a lot of places close earlier than you'd guess, especially in the quieter neighborhoods, so plan accordingly. New Orleans pubs are more than just places to drink , they’re spots to hang out, catch up, and maybe even hear some local stories.
