We had the best time at Saffron. We were served a fixed menu, and everything was absolutely delicious. The star of the show for me was the dessert. The service was perfect, and the whole experience felt really special. I will definitely be back many times.
Went to Saffron NOLA tonight and honestly this place was such a cool surprise. One of the best me and my partner have tried in the US. Perfect for date night! The drinks alone were enough to make the night memorable. The saffron Old Fashioned with mango chutney and bitters was insane. One of those cocktails where every sip tastes a little different. Then we ordered “Lime in the Coconut” with gin, curry leaf, and mustard seed and I swear I’ve never had anything like it before. Weird on paper. Amazing in real life and we were shocked and loved every bit of it. The drinks go so well with the food. The pani puri with salmon filling and tomato broth was probably my favorite appetizer. Felt playful without trying too hard. The masala fish cake with mint and tamarind chutney had this comforting homemade feel to it that balanced all the creative stuff really nicely. For mains we had garlic naan, royal paneer, and the seasonal red fish kofta with basmati rice. The paneer was rich and comforting but that red fish kofta was seriously special. Dessert absolutely finished the meal strong. English bread pudding with chocolate rum sauce. Ridiculous. Best part though was meeting Arvinder, the owner. He came over and talked with us for a while and you could tell this place means a lot to him personally. Really genuine guy with a strong story behind the restaurant. Also loved seeing Chef “Papa” around the kitchen. The whole place has personality and warmth instead of feeling polished or fake. This place feels like someone took Indian food memories, New Orleans energy, and a little creativity and just let it all happen naturally. Also, our server Gabriel was very nice and explained everything so well. I would certainly come back.
Saffron was truly an exquisite dining experience from beginning to end. The atmosphere was elegant and inviting, the service attentive and warm, and every dish was beautifully presented with incredible flavor and attention to detail. The fusion of spices and fresh ingredients created a meal that felt both refined and comforting. Every bite was memorable, and the entire experience felt special. Highly recommend Saffron for anyone looking for outstanding food and an unforgettable evening.
While walking down Magazine and craving a cocktail I stumbled across the menu outside of Saffron. As a person with a basement bar in my home I tend to get bored with most cocktail menus - even ones that pride themselves on having “craft” or “elevated” drinks. I was intrigued by the options and decided to take a chance despite the average price being $18-19 per drink. I’m so glad I did. In the 7 days I spent in Nola this was the only place I went twice (aside from Cafe Du Monde). The cocktails were unbelievable, innovative, balanced, and beautifully presented. I ordered 4 different drinks over my two visits as well as trying the drink my friend ordered. Every single one was exceptional and I would order them again. Beyond just the drinks, however, my favorite part of the experience was Ashton the bartender. She made the time we spent at that counter unforgettable with high quality service, friendliness, and a wealth of information about the drinks and the lengths the establishment goes through to develop and create them. Everything is made from scratch and in house and you can taste the quality of the care they put into every creation. The second bartender (Preston? I wish I remembered) was also fantastic and you could tell that they worked together as a great team to serve everyone no matter how busy it got. On our second visit Ashton was able to talk us into ordering one food item off the menu (Tandoori Squash) by saying it’s the one thing everyone should try. My friend and I had no regrets and both agreed that we never enjoyed butternut squash before tasting that dish. I look forward to a future trip with the opportunity to try more food and cocktail selections. The ambiance was welcoming and modern. All of the staff appeared positive and professional. Every dish that passed by us smelled phenomenal. And both times we visited we sat next to locals- which in my opinion is the sign of a great restaurant. Saffron was my absolute favorite unexpected surprise of the trip and I can’t wait to go home and try (and fail) to recreate the drinks that Ashton made for us.
Made the very wise decision to choose Saffron Nola on Magazine St for our 3rd wedding anniversary. Even for a Wednesday night, the place had a robust crowd, but we were welcomed immediately and seated quickly. Our server was extremely prompt and attentive, clearing plates and cups the second we finished. The food here is the real deal. The Chicken Lasooni had insane flavor with an exceptional sauce. The Khyber Lamb Chops were grilled to an absolutely perfect medium rare and served on top of a bold, spicy sauce. Even the Goat Masala was a stunning, well-rounded dish that came out hot with lovely, fluffy rice. The drinks didn't miss either, the house old-fashioned was incredible and the signature martini was unique and delicious. It was a tad bit loud because of the crowd, but you'll understand why it's so busy once the food hits the table. This Indian fusion is unique and remarkably delicious. Honestly, each course was better than the last.
