Reviews
We had such a wonderful evening at Zasu. From the service to the food, it’s clear why the restaurant is so highly acclaimed. The cocktails were well crafted and they had some very fun takes on traditional drinks. Each course hit the mark with well balance flavors and execution. Our meal: we started with the octopus, the summer squash and the crab claws. The octopus was a delightful balance of flavors and was perfectly cooked. The crab claws were just okay in our book; a bit heavy on the citrus and acid which took it from being bright and refreshing to slightly overpowering. The summer squash and zucchini were overmatched by the fennel for us. Our mains were exceptional, having tried the king salmon and the red snapper. They were balanced, well prepared and well cooked. If I had one request as mentioned to Ben, I’d love to have just a couple pieces of sweet potato gnocchi along with the traditional gnocchi to add a hint of sweet to the salt of my snapper (just my untrained palate, so I’m by no means an expert). The dessert was the highlight for both of us; we shared the Apple crumble which came with a house made butter pecan ice cream that was some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had. I was also able to try their house made chocolate malt which if I was able to have for a milkshake, would have put me over the top. All in all, a wonderful evening with great food, good drinks and some of the best service we’ve had to date. It’s clear they’ve gone to great lengths to ensure we diners have a top notch experience across the board from service to their carefully curated dishes that match the flavors of the season. Thank you Ben for taking great care of us.
This restaurant lives up to its Michelin rating for sure! You can’t not visit this place when you are in New Orleans! If you desire southern cooking with a flair for the elegance you have to come here! It’s almost hidden and unassuming in its presence. The inside is upscale but simple. You are greeted by the hostess and shuffled to a lovely table. The waiter greets you and asks for your drink order and in our case brings 2 glasses of the most excellent proseccos for our anniversary. Then wishes us a happy anniversary and brought our wine. The waiter was great but the sommelier was exceptional and paired our wines with the meal perfectly. Their sommelier was exceptional and I tipped him separately as you should because he is amazing. For our dinner we had as appetizers hamachi crudo southern style and blue crab claws that both were awesome and memorable! Then we had the salad which I can’t remember the ingredients but still amazing! For our main we. Both had the red snapper on greens and mushrooms with a beurre blanc sauce! Really quite impressive! They finished fished with a chocolate mouse with raspberry and gelato ice cream which was Devine!!! Such a stellar experience overall!!! Love this place!!
Zasu is a wonderful restaurant. Does it deserve its Michelin star? Maybe. But the food was nearly perfect, and we loved everything we ordered. The red snapper was absolutely wonderful, and the crab claws were outstanding. Interestingly, some of the supporting components may have been even better than the main attractions. The gnocchi served with the snapper was incredible, and the salad accompanying the crab claws was one of the most memorable parts of the dish. The restaurant itself is adorable, with a warm atmosphere that makes the entire experience feel special. Michelin star debate aside, if you have the chance to visit Zasu, the answer is 100,000 percent yes. Go.
An amazing dinning experience! Every meal was clean, vibrant, and evenly paced. The wait staff was always present yet almost invisible. Dessert ended with a Pistachio cheese cake that was dense but not heavy, almost like a warm brownie could be. Delicious cocktails made a tailored list hard yet fun to choose from. Last but not least, the atmosphere is calming, Zasu's filled dinning room had a dampening effect where every table had their own private converstation. Zasu could be my home away from home! 10/10, 7 days a week would recommend!
Fantastic food. Service and meal were exceptional. We dined on a busy weekday evening, and every table was full. The restaurant is intimate, so it was a bit loud and difficult to hear table conversation and even the server at times. But the food is the focus, and it left little to be desired. The scallops and short rib were fantastic. Also highly recommend the apple cake for dessert. We will definitely be back.
