Beyond amazing BBQ — even for a couple of Texans! We live in Texas, where barbecue is basically a religion and everyone claims theirs is the best. So when we hit up Pig Out Nola Barbecue in the French Quarter, we had high expectations… and this place absolutely delivered. We got the brisket platter and a brisket sandwich, and both were fantastic. The brisket was tender, juicy, smoky, and full of flavor — perfect bark and that melt-in-your-mouth texture you hope for. The sandwich (pictured) was loaded and messy in all the right ways. Sides were excellent too: creamy coleslaw, flavorful beans, crisp pickles, and those addictive seasoned fries. Everything was fresh, well-portioned, and tasted like it came from a serious BBQ spot. Coming from Texas, we were genuinely impressed — this is legit competition-level barbecue right in New Orleans. Casual vibe, great flavors, and a spot we’ll absolutely return to next time we’re in town. If you’re craving real-deal smoked brisket in the French Quarter, do yourself a favor and Pig Out! 🍖🔥

Ordered the rib platter and half chicken platter. Both were very juicy and fall off the bone tender. The coleslaw was light and crunchy and potato salad was fresh and creamy. The beans had large chunks of meat and were flavorful. The cornbread tasted freshly baked and warm. The portions were generous and the price was reasonable. Limited indoor seating and more patio seating outside. Thank you!

Chef Rodrick’s ribs fell off the bone. The brisket was delicious and very tender. Even better with the barbecue sauce. Great potato salad and slaw. Baked beans were deep with flavour. AWESOME, intense gumbo. The cornbread was like the softest cake. Jacob at front-of-house was welcoming, friendly and helpful. A great meal in relaxed, casual surroundings. Thank you both!!!!

Chef Roderic was very kind and made the best bbq. It was the most tender meat we’ve ever had. He was so kind and gave us good recommendations, so we got the brisket, pork, ribs, and chicken wings. That was the best cornbread I’ve ever had (He even told me the secret recipe). You should keep in mind though that it is next to a cigar place so the smell is a little bothersome, but if you’re okay with that it should be fine.

Don't miss out on this gem, 'cause Rodrick will treat you like family and hook you up! Small establishment with limited seating, but it's worth any wait. The brisket is tender and juicy, the gumbo is better than we've tried at other "fancier" places here in town, and the brisket tacos perfectly hit the spot. But the real treat was the candied bacon! We should have ordered two because the fam could not get enough.
