⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Must-Visit Restaurant in New Orleans – Thank You, Damon Sam! My husband and I took our very first trip to New Orleans over the July 3rd weekend, and despite a very rough start with our travels, this restaurant completely turned our evening around. Our original JetBlue flight was scheduled to arrive at 3:00 PM, but after multiple delays, a last-minute cancellation, and being rebooked, we didn't arrive until 10:00 PM. We checked into the DoubleTree Hotel exhausted and starving. The hotel concierge recommended Blue Bayou Restaurant, just a short walk away, and we're so glad they did! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was incredible. A talented young gentleman was performing live throughout the restaurant, singing classic hits from the 1990s. He had guests dancing, singing along, and even serenading some of the ladies. It was such fun, welcoming vibe and exactly what we needed after spending nearly an entire day at the airport. The wait was only about 15 minutes for our party of two, and then we had the pleasure of being served by Mr. Damon Sam. Damon greeted us with a warm smile, introduced himself, asked where we were visiting from, and genuinely took the time to get to know us. His hospitality made us feel like valued guests instead of just another table. He recommended an Abita Amber Draft, which was perfect after our long day. Since it was already close to 11:00 PM, we wanted something flavorful but not too heavy. Damon recommended Creole Jambalaya Rice and the Louisiana Crab Cakes. Every bite was absolutely delicious! The flavors were authentic, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. Just when we thought the meal couldn't get any better, Damon encouraged us to try the famous New Orleans Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce. Oh...my...goodness! Without a doubt, this was the best bread pudding I have ever tasted. It was incredibly moist, rich, full of flavor, and literally melted in your mouth. It was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. I want to give a huge shout-out to Mr. Damon Sam. Your kindness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality made our first night in New Orleans unforgettable. After such an exhausting travel day, you made us feel welcomed, appreciated, and right at home. The food was outstanding, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was unforgettable. If you're visiting New Orleans, Blue Bayou Restaurant is an absolute must-try! Thank you again, Damon! You truly ROCK! Maria & Tony Fort Lauderdale, Florida
I recently dined at Blue Bayou off Canal Street, and while my overall experience had its highlights, it was marred by some service issues. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly, but unfortunately, we waited around for about 10 to 20 minutes without any acknowledgment from the staff. After inquiring about our server, we decided to head to the bar to avoid further delays. There, we sat for another 10-15 minutes before placing our drink orders. I ordered an Old Fashioned and a Streetcar cocktail, both of which were delightful. My girlfriend opted for the Black Pearl, and she was equally impressed with her choice. For our meals, I had the Mardi Gras pasta, while she enjoyed the Pick Three Sampler. The food was fantastic—full of flavor and beautifully presented. Despite the initial service hiccups, we ended up having a great time enjoying the delicious food and drinks. I would certainly recommend Blue Bayou for its culinary offerings, but I hope they can improve their service to match the quality of the food.
The live music was so good!! This evening there’s a drummer and he’s playing so many great numbers from various genres!!! Ms. Mika (mgr) was amazing and Ms. Ty (our server) took extra care to get additional details for us about the fish we ordered. The food was AMAZING. I had the Mardi Gras pasta (shrimp, crawfish tails, peppers, onions over penne in gravy/sauce), and it was seasoned PERFECTLY! We also ordered the redfish w/sautéed veggies! Also delicious! I added some of the gravy from the pasta onto the redfish…SUPERB!!!! I typically take food home - not tonight!
I had a wonderful time at Blue Bayou. The cozy vibe really captures the spirit of New Orleans. Our waiter, Damon, made the evening even better. He was friendly and truly knew the Louisiana-style menu. His recommendations for gumbo, jambalaya, and those drinks were absolutely perfect. If you’re in the mood for delicious Louisiana food and a warm, welcoming experience, I can’t recommend Blue Bayou enough—be sure to ask for Damon
Yum! The food were well seasoned! I had the blackened red fish and grilled oysters. Both delicious! Sanaa took care of us and she was delightful! Very sweet and prompt. Great atmosphere with live music. You can see them grilling the oysters by the bar which is cool. Give it a try and thank me later.
