Loved the Purple Drank- a delicious frozen grape flavored drink. Definitely get it if you come here. I went once in the day and once at night- night is better in my opinion because it’s so dimly lit with only tealights on the tables so it makes for a great vibe. It lowkey feels like the Poison Apple bar from Shrek 2 lol.

This is definitely a must-visit stop when exploring Bourbon Street. It’s a little farther down the strip, but well worth the extra walk. Featured on nearly every walking tour, the venue is filled with photos of famous visitors who have stopped by over the years. Built in the early 1700s, the historic structure has maintained its old-world charm, complete with dim lighting and a cool, atmospheric vibe. If you’re visiting with a group, the piano bar in the back is a great place to relax and enjoy the experience. For couples or smaller groups just wanting to check it out, I’d recommend going earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds. It’s a very cool spot to stop in for a drink!

This could be a tourist trap depending on the time you go. We tried in the afternoon on Saturday, the place was packed! We tried again Sunday around noon and we were able to get an outside table and a beer promptly. The history and historical nature of the place is the driving force here. The staff is well versed for the traffic flow.

Visiting Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar was easily one of the highlights of my time in New Orleans. The atmosphere alone makes this place unforgettable—stepping inside feels like going back in time, with its candlelit interior, historic charm, and authentic character you just won’t find anywhere else on Bourbon Street. The drinks were excellent, especially their famous frozen cocktails. Everything was served quickly despite the crowd, and the bartenders kept the energy fun and welcoming. There’s something special about enjoying a drink in one of the oldest bars in the country—it adds a whole new level to the experience. What really stood out was the vibe: lively but not overwhelming, with a unique mix of history, music, and great people. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back again, this spot is a must. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a true New Orleans experience!

Missed this place on our last trip so had to do it on this one and glad we did. What a super cool bar, great vibe, bartenders were great, very nice and talkative, fixed great drinks and bought a super cool t shirt. We even thought we saw Jeff Bridges, "The Dude" but he said he wasn't him lol. Will definitely go back every time we are in Nola.
