Long weekend 27-30 booked thru Amex travel and doesn’t really live up their level of customer care Pros: rooms were nice and spacious Location was great Cons: long check in process, issues with the card reader. Took multiple attempts by the staff unplugging and plugging it back in. At one point our keys stopped working and had to be reset no ID was checked or name confirmed, asked what room and handed us two new keys. Such a security risk. At Check out the blonde older woman told us we already checked out that morning. Confirmed my name and room number and said again that someone had already been there and checked out. Obviously not. She stated they complained about the bill so she remembered. We had no complaints on the bill. Overall I wouldn’t choose to stay there again. Back to the Kimpton and will live without a pool.

My room was comfortable with a nice view of the pool,and the location made it easy to walk to nearby restaurants,stores, transportation, and drug store. The staffs was wonderful-friendly and professional throughout my stay. The only concern was a long power outage caused by a transformer issue. While I understand things like this happen, it was unsettling not to receive any update or explanations. For guest with medical condition, communication during this situation like this is very important.

The location was great. The front desk staff were somewhat rude, but the bellhop attendant worked very hard and was polite. Apparently, you can only use a luggage cart IF the bellhop brings it to you, loads it, takes it to the car, and unloads it. Which, forces you to tip them, as well as, you have to wait until they are finished with other guests check-outs to then call them to your room for assistance. Besides that small inconvenience, the other issue that I had during my stay was that I valeted my car, and upon picking up my car the next morning, the valet attendant was facetiming a friend and texting with my seat laid back while actively driving my car. As well as, upon watching my dash cam, he did it the entire time he was in my new car driving in the busy french quarter. Just recently, a month after my stay, I received a $155 bill from a parking garage in the city where valet took my car twice and it was never registered by the company or the hotel. I called and spoke with one of the valet managers and she told me that "being on the phone is a part of their jobs" and that they are allowed to use their phones while driving the cars. Which, is absolutely ridiculous reasoning, dangerous, and illegal. She assisted with the bill, but it took me finding the Hyatt number, explaining the issue with the front desk, waiting for them to forward me to a manager, and then to explain it further with her to simply just stay 1 night in a hotel.

I tried unsuccessfully to book through the hotel a few months ago, but they kept hanging up on me, I entually found a good deal through costco travel. The hotel is nice, the bar is great and the staff are great. The rooms try to keep the noise out but one noisy night, one bar had everything vibrating with the bass! We were top floor, cant imagine what it would have been like on the lower floors. The room was huge though. I would recommend this hotel to others.

Overall, the room was wonderful (king room). Decently spacious with a small couch and table, and direct access to the pool area, which was fabulous for enjoying those hot sunny days and drying towels and stuff, not to mention no noise from the street at night. Bathroom was also spacious with a very large mirror, and sizable shower. The room had a few surprising negatives. One – all the lighting in the room was fluorescent in color, which gave the room a very cheap feel. Two – there were no drinking glasses in the bathroom, which I’ve never seen before. Three – the bathroom lights didn’t have separate switches. They were either all on, or all off, which is surprising in a hotel like this where bathroom lights usually are separated between mirror lights and the ceiling light. Four - there weren’t many easy to reach outlets in the room except for one in the bathroom; there are outlets on the nightstands, but only one nightstand was functioning. The hotel is very centrally located, which is great if you plan on enjoying Bourbon Street, and going out to restaurants and bars. There is a CVS one block away as well as a Walgreens, and a small bodega/supermarket. I will say, if you get rooms that are on the street side, you will for sure be dealing with a lot of noise at night (music from the bars, music in the streets, police sirens, people screaming, etc.). I was in the gym one night close to midnight, and the noise from the street was shocking! The gym in the hotel is one of the best I’ve been in. Very spacious with a nice set of free weights, a couple of benches, several cardio machines, a cable weight station, and a nice set of kettle bells. That said, I think they should add one more cable weight station. There’s more than enough room. The hotel bar’s definitely a great spot for hanging out, meeting up with people. With a large bar and plenty of seating, a number of comfy booths to enjoy, and couches and chairs for true relaxing, you almost wanna spend more time there than in the room. The hotel Cafe has lots to offer in the way of coffees and pastries, and has a plethora of seating. Unless you’re a Starbucks fanatic, there’s no need to go anywhere else.
