Description
Your private tour covers diverse New Orleans neighborhoods beyond the typical French Quarter, showcasing bars, restaurants, and jazz clubs along the way. Food lovers will gain insights into the best local cuisine spots to explore during your stay.
Experience the city’s rich culture and history, including visits to iconic landmarks, eclectic architecture, and a guided cemetery tour explaining the above-ground burial system. The tour begins with a drive through the French Quarter passing Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, Café Du Monde, the French Market, and various historic statues.
Next, you will travel down Frenchmen Street to see renowned jazz clubs such as DBA, Spotted Cat, Maison, and Snug Harbor where local jazz artists perform. The tour continues through the Treme neighborhood, known as the birthplace of jazz.
You will then drive along Esplanade Avenue, noted for its Creole Cottage, Greek Revival, and Steamboat Gothic architecture. The cemetery visit allows time to explore independently after your guide’s overview.
Afterward, the tour includes a break at Café du Monde to enjoy beignets and chicory coffee, with time to stroll through City Park if desired.
The route continues along Lake Pontchartrain, where you will see the longest bridge in the world, the Causeway, and learn about the Hurricane Katrina flooding and levee breaches. You will then visit the Garden District, known for historic mansions on St. Charles Avenue, including homes of affluent families and celebrities.
Driving down St. Charles Avenue, learn about the streetcar line, America’s oldest national landmark streetcar beginning in 1835. The tour concludes by passing monuments such as the National World War II Museum and the Benjamin Franklin statue.
