This neighborhood is more than a residence for the city's elite; it has been a sanctuary for ancestral witches and their families. While fictional Mayfair Witches capture imaginations, this tour reveals the true history of witchcraft among New Orleans' oldest Uptown families.
Discover the real witches who practiced healing and lifestyle changes well before popular TV series, books, and movies appeared. This unique tour offers a living experience with stories from those connected to this legacy.
The tour begins at The Rink Shopping Center, 2727 Prytania Street. From there, walk tree-lined streets exploring mansions and gardens where witches lived and worked their craft. You will see the Mayfair Witches home, the Coven house, and homes of both free and condemned witchcraft families.
The tour concludes at the gates of Lafayette Cemetery #1, where you will learn about burial procedures and customs. Note that public access to the cemetery is not allowed.
The ending point is near coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping areas, with your guide available to recommend places to eat, drink, or shop. You will also receive a follow-up email with a list of local activities and witches-related suggestions.
