A locals bar if I've ever seen one. The people are friendly and the beers are cold. The bar top doesn't have a ton of seats (maybe 10 or so, with another 10 divided between a couple of tables and another bar facing the wall. The back patio is a bit larger and affords a great retreat for a little smoking, plus there are a couple of benches and tables out front of you want something a little quieter. The burger looked fantastic but I didn't get a chance to try it. The quesadilla was solid, however. The kitchen opens at 7pm and closes around 11:30 or midnight. Be nice, and remember to tip your bartender!
After hearing lots of good things, I stopped by and I ordered the Redux burger. It took a very long time to prepare are come out to the table, and when it finally came out, it was still raw - not just rare, but mealy and cool in the center. Good seasoning and toppings, but I only ended up eating the perimeter edge after realizing how undercooked it was, and had to take it home and throw it in the air fryer. It was pretty good then, but obviously that's not the way it's supposed to be. As far as atmosphere goes, it was very loud - the bartender had this crazy clear voice that throws and cuts through the din, on top of some very loud and inebriated patrons who were genuinely yelling. I get that it's a dive and not fine dining, but it was just a bit more than I was expecting for a week night at dinnertime.
Great dive. Good friendly owners and staff. Really good food. I've never had a bad meal here. That Redux burger and Gumbo is awesome. Great lounging back yard. Great music. Live and DJs. Plus specialty events.
