Hampton Inn New Orleans-St. Charles Ave./Garden District
New Orleans
Reviews
Hampton Inns are known for consistency and value wherever you go, so you get something familiar anywhere in the country. This one is probably the nicest version of it I've seen. Excellent price for the location, well maintained, and the staff was incredible. I needed something printed for my college work, and the front desk generously helped me out. Pros: -excellent location -awesome value -kind and helpful staff Cons -gym is small, even by hotel standards -parking isn't free (but priced very well compared to competitors) Update: they charge $10 for a liter of water. TEN. $5 for the small bottle, and $2.50 for one of the cheap waters you buy in a case. I understand convenience fees, but this is inexcusable. New Orleans is notoriously hot, and they do not keep the free water in the jar with lemons refreshed all the time. Just charge a buck for a small bottle, your margins aren't that thin.
Hotel reception misled me about having a parking garage rather than a private lot that they monitored. As a person moving their belongings in their car and who called ahead specifically for this feature, I was greatly distressed, but since I checked in late at night after driving across country all day I didn’t try switching to other hotels. My hotel room was normal with nice sheets, bathroom seems old, elevator feels rickety and continental breakfast was subpar. This quality of stay deserves simple cheap motel pricing, not expensive hotel prices and surcharges. Not worth the money. Many of the staff were friendly though.
The ladies at the desk couldn’t be nicer!! Wow very hospitable and make the place great. We did have to wipe down our room. Crumbs and dirt in the corners and under desk/AC. Stains on walls. Dusty everywhere. Rooms leave a little for the wanting. Self parking which I appreciated. Breakfast was good as well. Overall a good stay.
Great location, great service, and secure parking—which was very important to us. The staff truly made this stay special. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and courteous, and Smiley in particular stood out for being attentive and quick to resolve any issues that came up. We would have loved to have a balcony room, but in the end it encouraged us to get out and enjoy everything New Orleans has to offer rather than spending too much time inside. Throughout our stay, we felt safe, comfortable, and well taken care of. The location was convenient for exploring the city, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this property to anyone visiting New Orleans.
Had a really great stay here! Awesome location. The lobby seating area is so spacious and plentiful, and staff were all so friendly and even shared some funny stories with us. Such a perfect location with the St Charles streetcar literally just outside + the buses nearby, we used the RTA Jazzy Pass app to get around easily. Easy lyft/uber pickup too since there’s a curved driveway area right at the front doors for easy pickup or drop off. Also a chill 15-20 min walk to Magazine St (heads up sometimes lots of uneven sidewalks and other surfaces). Idk who was expecting an ultraaa luxurious stay when booking the Hampton Inn, obviously this is not that type of place people! 😅 But this place is very comfortable, affordable, clean, and safe and I would TOTALLY stay here again
