The Royal Sonesta New Orleans

The location can’t be beat. Right on Bourbon Street right in the center of all the cool dining. The check-in process went fairly quickly, their room keys are super cool. The valet guy was insanely friendly. The Bellman were very nice as well. The pool bar was fantastic and we spent an hour or so in the pool and made a ton of friends. We had a balcony that was right on Bourbon Street. It was extremely exciting when we first checked in to see all the hub on the street and watch people, however, as the hours went on and the sound was overwhelming I wished I’d had a balcony of that face into the courtyard. I would 100% stay at this hotel again I just don’t think I would get a bourbon street facing balcony. The sound level is insane level. It’s not just the people in the music from the clubs, but they have these guys that sit on the ground level and play drums with buckets for hours on end and it’s almost hard to think straight when you’re out on the balcony. just a warning otherwise everything else was really great about this hotel
Just got back from a getaway for 1 week. Amazing hotel in the heart of bourbon street. Walking distance to everything in french quarter, street cars. Friendly helpfull stafe including Caleb the door man who not only enjoys his job but takes time to talk to all guest with a smile. ( thank you Caleb for help making this trip the best week I have had in a long time) I highly recommend the bourbon balcony
I've only stayed there twice. Great staff, very accommodating and THE very best location if you want to spend your time in the French Quarter. The concierge was one of the best I've encountered. They are a bit pricey, but worth it. One negative is very small rooms...but really if you're there to enjoy Bourbon St and Jackson Square, how much time are you going to be in the room?
If you’re looking for a great spot to stay on Bourbon Street, look no further than Royal Sonesta. My wife and I stayed for 4 days and had a great experience. The staff was very pleasant and the nearby connected jazz club, coffee place and restaurant (very pricey) were a nice touch to add to an already great location. I’ve never stayed at a place that had bellmen and doormen so that was kinda cool. Special shoutout to doorman Caleb, he was very personable and social, all while greeting guests with a boisterous, “Welcome to the Royal Sonesta!” When exiting their vehicles. I interacted in passing with the bellmen and they were always nice and sociable with guests as well. It really felt different than your normal hotel because it seemed like the staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome and that was a huge plus. The only reason I gave 4/5 for the location is that it can be noisy in the evening depending on where your room is due to vehicle and foot traffic on Bourbon. We had a room facing Bienville St so it wasn’t as loud, but there was a club 3 floors below us that you could hear everyone and a while along with passing vehicles bumping their stereos. A good sound machine or sound machine app really helped and the beds were comfy so I had no real trouble falling asleep. The outdoor pool is also nice, but it’s a little small and the chairs can fill up fast so choose your time wisely as they close at sunset. Thus, I would definitely stay here again, it’s close to everything, you’re only 5 blocks north of the riverfront and the vibe is fun (as is the people watching 😂).
Doorman staff is unbelievably friendly. Got to the hotel and the front desk told me my room was ready, but if I wanted to go into it two hours early it would cost me 50$. At this point I feel like they are really trying for every penny of my money. Quoted a room rate of 728$ for the weekend, the rate some how went up 200$? Plus the 300$ for incidentals. Which I still don’t have back. Room was clean, tv never worked properly, shower was a slow drip. Also something was wrong with the bartender at the Jazz club, he was probably the most impolite person I have seen in a minute. Went to the lower end seafood restaurant at the hotel for dinner mid at very best. Honestly the only thing that saved this place for me was the door person staff. They were completely accommodating and great.
