I’ve been to DBA several times in the past. I’ve seen John Boutté. I’ve seen soul rebels.. and other New Orleans staples over the years. Tonight on a random late July evening , I wandered in for t-Marie and the Bayou juju. No cover. I tipped them well. It was about as perfect a New Orleans night as one could imagine. My new favorite cocktail in the world is the East Bank sour and I will go to bed with its taste, lingering on my lips because I didn’t wanna brush my teeth to erase it. I love this city and I love DBA.

DBA In New Orleans on April 24, 2026, the first Friday of the 2026 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. It had been a busy day at the fairgrounds, shuttling between the Blues tent (featuring Al "Lil Fats" Jackson) and the Gospel tent (featuring LB Landry Gospel Choir and St. Mary's Academy Gospel Choir) for most of the day. Lorde began her performance around 5:30 p.m., by which time I knew I’d had enough sunshine for the day. Taking the Express Shuttle bus back to my hotel, I made plans to stop by DBA for a drink and a listen. This is a modest venue – a traditional stage at the back, maybe a dozen tables – no food, just a well-stocked and diverse menu of beverages priced for the going market . . . not cheap, but not over the top expensive; and very tasty. The musicians were just setting up when I arrived around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday. There was one hi-top table for two left when I got there, so I claimed it and went looking for the bartender. The band fired up, and away we went. No cover for the 6 p.m. show, acoustics were great, the audience vibe was enthusiastic, and you get a sense that this is what New Orleans brass band jazz is all about. Time well spent!

Visited this place with a group of friends that kind of grew up in the area as part of a post-wedding crawl and had a great time. We were able to find space for over 20 of us spread across a few booths. Drinks were well made, friendly staff and they were quick even with a packed house. Live music was good and they played all the way to closing. Adding this place to my list of joints to visit while I'm in town.

Loved it! A premier Jazz bar on Frenchman, and in NOLA period. Had a fantastic time enjoying the tunes with a great cocktail, of which they have a nice variety. People are very friendly, both the staff and guests; just an all around great time. Even the doorman was very warm!

Popped in to hear a band and am so sad we missed the majority of their show! The men out front were very kind and welcoming, and the performers were so talented! Bar tenders were also attentive. Will definitely be back!
