It was ok. It was definitely what you call a hole in the wall dive bar. It gets played up on social media by content creators and with a cool name like that and you get the whole "your not allowed to take pictures or video " plus it's down an alleyway or whatever, it adds to that mystique and really upped my expectations whatever they might have been. But when you go in, it's just a small dimly lit bar with a few halloween type skull decorations (I do like that kind of decor btw). Online it gets advertised as a heavy metal dive bar. I heard one metal song when we got there other than that we heard some mild classic rock (Fleetwood Mac) which is fine but man I was looking for that heavy metal vibe. The guy working the door definitely gave off metal vibes and the bartender was good too. All in all if you want a small dive bar it certainly delivers as advertised. We had a beer and a water and headed out.

We didn’t get food or drinks here. We mostly wanted to just check it out as it had good reviews. If you’re into goth, creepy, kinda satanic vibe, you might enjoy this place. Too bizarre for me, but the couple we were with loved it. Very dark inside, very loud music, friendly staff.

The Dungeon has the tourist formula down pretty well. It’s not trying to be fancy, and that works in its favor. The bartenders were friendly and quick with service, which kept things moving even when it got busy. The place is laid out across several small rooms, including a dance floor on the upper level, which makes it fun to explore a bit rather than feeling like one big crowded space. Their specialty frozen/slushy drink is worth trying. I recommend asking for it with the liqueur they have the cherries soaking in, which adds a nice touch. One thing that stood out was the strict no photos or video policy inside the venue. Honestly, that’s kind of refreshing. It cuts down on people constantly stopping in just to take selfies for social media and helps keep the vibe focused on actually enjoying the bar. Overall, it’s a fun stop if you’re bar hopping in the Quarter and want something a little different.

My fave rock and roll bar EVER! Just the coolest vibes all around, great entrance and walk through the alley, second floor is even more amazing. Don’t be intimidated to venture up! And BEST rock music EVER! So much fun! I would go to New Orleans just to go to this bar alone. 😊
