The Hotel Maison Pierre Lafitte is tough to score. There is a lot of good. The staff is super friendly, accommodating and communicative. The location is great, just outside the French Quarter, but close enough to walk anywhere there and if you can't walk, it is close to bus and street car lines. The rooms are clean with plenty of towels and essentials. Our room was a 1 br flat. There was plenty of room for 4 people. Contrary to some of the Comments, we found the hotel quiet for a New Orleans stay. However, the water pressure was weak and the water temp never got above lukewarm for a shower. That really is not acceptable. Also, the bed had an old (can tell by the indentations in the bed), overly soft mattress on a very creaky wooden frame. Again, that's not acceptable. Because the good stuff was so good I gave MPL a 4. In reality it is a 3.5, but you cant give a .5 score on Google. However, if the owners would just invest some $ in insuring high water pressure, hot water and decent beds, they would have an easy five! I hope they do. We would love to stay their again!!

Okay, hear me out…. I booked this room for NYE without reading reviews. I read reviews a few days prior and got nervous. We are local and just needed a decent place to sleep close to The Orpheum Theater. It’s an old building… any building in NOLA that was built prior to 2005, you will have to worry about mold. Luckily, there were no visible signs of mold like others stated, but my allergies were reacting as if there was. Like I said, to be expected. We stayed in a 1 bedroom- room 301. Based on reviews, it seems like every room is different. Our bedroom had a full size bed. Not the best (or the worst) mattress. The bathroom is tiny. No TV in the bedroom, but there’s a small smart tv in the “living room”. Our room didn’t have a balcony, but there was access to one right outside of our room. We had no issues with noise, but we also didn’t go to bed until well after midnight ;) The location of the hotel was definitely the biggest pro. We parked in a garage, ate dinner, went to a concert, then got an amazing meal at 1:30am from Cleo’s. All on the same street. The guy at the desk was really nice- offered us champagne upon arrival and donuts upon departure. Depending how long you’re staying and your plans while staying, this could or couldn’t be the place for you. But for the price, location, and our needs it worked :)

This place should not be considered a hotel. Would be better if they d called themselves apartments or something. That way one wouldn’t assume there is people or service of any kind. Front desk was closed the whole week we were there. We needed a flatter pillow or refill the shower gel or get some coffee but since there was no one around this was impossible to get. They called me non stop before arrival to get my $250 secure deposit, and also for me to fill in the check in information… now I understand why.. there’s no one around once you check in. The lady at the check in was super weird. We arrived early like 1.30 pm and left our bags there till check in time (4pm). She offered early check in but for an extra cost so we decided to wait. She then said if you come around 3.45 I’ll let you in. Ok… we came back at 3.30 cause I needed medication from my bag we grabbed it and she made us wait till 3.45… no one was in our room and it was ready but still. We waited in the bar next door and returned 3.45 when then she went to check the room and made us wait till 4 pm… ok no big deal, we knew 4 pm was the check in time… but felt unnecessary. She only seemed interested in selling us a package tour and was pushy.. not reading the room at all. We wanted to go to our room! She insisted saying she was not going to be there the next day and gave us her phone number just in case we wanted to buy it. The room… smells horrible. Smells like a kitchen is right below… don’t know why. But all our clothes smells like fried food now. AC is super loud. Need to turn it off to sleep. Ac from neighbours is so loud the wall vibrates (see video attached) You can hear the noise from the streets. Thankfully it’s not a busy one. The place needs a deep cleaning. Carpets are fulthy. Kitchenware is not enough. Pans are super small so they’re useless to make something like pasta for two… Bed is small. Pillows were too high for me. Mattress was really comfortable though. Bathroom extractor for some reason expels hot air… Kitchen electric stoves were cracked but functioning. When Checking out we needed to leave our luggage for a few hours cause we flew at night. Of course no one was there. The girl from check in never answered her phone. The emergency phone number answered a text 2 hours later. I called that number and could manage to speak to a woman who contacted the cleaning lady who came to the front desk and helped us with the luggage. Thankfully we exchanged phone numbers for our returned because of course, around 3.30 pm there was no one there either. Thank you Karen for helping us 🫶🏻 Overall it was an extremely disappointing experience and wouldn’t return nor recommend to anyone.

Ok hear me out...it has potential. And it was not awful...but the pictures online are definitely misleading. I don't know what floor those rooms are on but it wasn't mine. My room was much older and was a little like being in someone's attic. Overall I would describe it as maybe a little dingey. The room was mostly clean but there are just a few changes that could make a big difference. Almost all the outlets were loose (like coming away from the wall) and the ones in the bathroom didn't work at all. Around the AC vent was super dusty and had black built up on the wall around it. The AC did work well. When i sat down on the corner of the bed, the whole mattress tried to come up (I'm only 155lbs sooooo it wasn't on my end). There were no tables set up on the balcony but there was an outdoor sofa and a couple of chairs. It is nice that the balcony wraps all the way around the corner block so you can see everything instead of just being small individual balconies. There is a public, well-lit parking garage right across the street and they keep a spot reserved by the front door for checking in and unloading your luggage. Never had any issues with any of the automated locks on the front door or room door. I was only on the second floor and did not have a problem with the street noise, but they did provide disposable ear plugs.
