The food was excellent, especially the spicy chicken chunks and the Mac and cheese. The pimento cheese spread was also quite good. The TV in the background was a bit loud, but you could still talk. The service was fast and friendly. I will definitely go back.
Our favorite visit in New Orleans! Karly was absolutely amazing with the cocktails and gave a very welcoming atmosphere for a couple tourists looking for something chill and quiant away from bourbon street. The food and drinks were the best we had in New Orleans; best sazarac, gumbo, and boudin near Bourbon street! Will absolutely be making this a staple visit for the future.
I thought I had fully explored most of the French Quarter for lunch places, but a recent Reddit post steered me toward Vacherie with a positive review. I was really impressed with the quality and value. While the prices are what you'd expect in the French Quarter, they're not so high that you felt like you're getting the "tourist tax" that some places charge. And the portion sizes are so generous, it makes the prices easier to swallow. I had the turkey bacon sandwich on sourdough. It didn't really taste like sourdough, but the bread was high quality. The turkey was stacked very high, and I appreciated that chips were included in the order (so many places that don't include chips charge a ridiculous markup on their bags of chips). It said it had a "pesto mayo" but I didn't really taste the pesto either. No matter, it was a quality mayo and overall the sandwich met expectations for a solid sandwich. I also got a pecan sticky bun for dessert which was quite good. A little pricy, but willing to pay it since sticky buns aren't as common here as they are up north. Tasted fresh, too. Looking forward to returning to sample the ice cream.
We stayed at the Hotel St. Marie for a few days. Breakfast in the sandwich shop in the morning was great! Delicious sandwich and home fries. Dan and Denae were so friendly and chatted about local things to do. In the evening we went to the bar. Good food, great service. I unfortunately don't recall the bartenders name but she was excellent. Even if you aren't staying at the hotel it's worth stopping in.
Oh my goodness, this place is so good! It's located inside the Hotel St Marie and has two parts, a bar with excellent food (the bread pudding with rum sauce is to die for) and strong, tasty cocktails. We showed up for happy hour every day -- try the rum punch -- and ended each day here after dinner. Our bartender was Melissa, and she's so friendly and helpful. We always found a seat, even though the bar was always full. The food and drinks are wonderful, but I have a feeling she's also part of the reason that this little place is always filled up with happy people. I have to mention the coffee shop by the same name as well. The gentleman working the morning shift made a perfect latte for me and the tuna salad has some kind of secret ingredient that makes it really special. We loved the hotel, and loved Vacherie maybe even more.
